To the point that college athletes shouldn't be paid, College
athletes already have various programs at their fingertips that will help “compensate”
them for their time put into their chosen sport. The NCAA states that it is merely an amateur activity not worth of having a payroll installed for players/students (. "College Athletes Should Not Be Paid due to
Post-Eligibility School Benefits." ,Chronicle of Higher Education 7 July 2006.) There are many ways a college athlete can be successful without being paid for what they do. Many college athletes are on scholarship so they are already compensated in some degree.
In contrast, The
NCAA is a multibillion-dollar industry ("College Athletes Should Be Paid.", USA Today Magazine Sept. 2000: 26.) and has the ability to compensate their players with ease. Whether it is a big market school or a lower market school the players are able to be compensated with the NCAA's approval. Many lucrative deals have been signed in the past to increase the revenue for College sports and there shouldn't be a problem in getting more in to help compensate players.
